White Bird Of Happiness

Shima Enaga

The Shima Enaga is a subspecies of the Long-tailed Tit found in Hokkaido, Japan. Recently, it's been gaining attention for its pure white and adorable appearance.
In reality, it seems to move around restlessly, making it a challenging subject for photographers.
I drew this imagining the happy moment when it paused and looked at me just for a brief second as I was about to give up.

Expression with Transparent Watercolors

I challenged myself to use techniques unique to transparent watercolors, such as layering shadows and adding soft gradients to the tree branches.
I tried not to make the drawing excessively cute, yet I paid special attention to key points like the yellow eyelids.
